In a post on Facebook, Monroe County officials say effective Friday, they will not accept commercial waste because that section of the landfill is nearly full. The moratorium on commercial waste is expected to remain in effect until the new portion of the landfill is opened, which is about 40 days away.
County officials say they will still accept inert waste and white goods like refrigerators, air conditioners, and washing machines. They will also continue to accept metal.

Additionally, the landfill remains open for material and household waste generated by Monroe County residents.
