Janie Lanelle Meade

Janie Lanelle Meade was born June 16, 1955 in Midland, Texas to Montrose Bradley and Pauline (Ray) Bradley and passed from this life July 26, 2022 at her home in Indianola following an extended illness.

Janie moved to Fitzhugh, Oklahoma as a girl with her family. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Ada High School.

Following graduation she attended East Central University before transferring to Oklahoma State University. There she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition. She was first employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs as a nutritionist teaching nutrition to native women.

On May 31, 1980 she married Ralph Meade at the First Baptist Church in Holdenville. They made their home there for a short time before relocating to Calumet, Oklahoma where together they became farmers. In 1986 they moved to Grant County, Oklahoma and continued to farm there until ill health restricted their activities.

In 2016 they retired in Indianola. Janie loved caring for animals of all kinds and enjoyed gardening. Janie was a great vocalist and loved singing and listening to gospel music. However, her greatest joy in life came from her family.

She dearly loved her husband, children, and grandchildren. Janie was awarded Woman of the Year in Agriculture and in 1999 the Meades were named Farm Family of the Year by the Farm Bureau. She was a member of the Choate Prairie Baptist Church. Janie was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Bobby and Montrose Joe Bradley.

Survivors include: her husband Ralph of the home in Indianola; 2 children, Janelle Catheryn Hoover and husband Ronnie of Freeport, Kansas and Rachel Jane Meade; a brother Terry Bradley and wife Dawn of Ovalo, Texas; 2 grandchildren, Christian Linton and Karlee Catheryn Hoover; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Choate Prairie Baptist Church in Indianola with Rev. Mike Ross, pastor, officiating.

A private family interment will follow at a later time. If a family donation is preferred in lieu of flowers it can be mailed to the Williamson Funeral Home, 221 S. Main, Wetumka, OK, 74883. Please note that the donation is for the Meade family.
