Ronnie Duane Morse
On Thursday, July 28, 2022, Ronnie Duane Morse, 70, formerly of Breckenridge, Texas, passed away at his home in New Blaine, Arkansas. While saddened by his passing, his family is rejoicing that he is no longer sick and is in the presence of Jesus.
Ronnie was born in Avon, Illinois, on June 22, 1952, to parents Clayton Duane and Colleen Davis Morse. Ronnie’s family moved to Throckmorton, Texas, where he made an impression as a standout athlete in basketball and track. Throckmorton is where he met Mickie Ash. They were married on June 2, 1972, and spent 34 years of marriage together. They made their first home in Lubbock, Texas, where they were blessed with two girls: Angie and Tara.
In 1979, Breckenridge became their home. Ronnie served in the Army National Guard, was a member of First Baptist Church in Breckenridge, and worked as a building contractor. He often frequented Gunsight Baptist Church after spending weekends building the church alongside his other brothers in Christ. He enjoyed all sports but especially loved playing softball with his friends on the Triple S & Riggs Brothers teams. He was fond of the time he spent golfing with Danny Ash, Jay Rob Horry, and Allen Horn, as well as his hunting and fishing trips with Dee Warren. He was a lover of all animals and nature.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Colleen Morse of New Blaine, Arkansas. He leaves behind two girls and two sons-in-law, Angie Hogan and husband Steve of Highland Village, Texas, and Tara Horn and husband Allen of Abilene, Texas. Ronnie loved his grandchildren, Bonnie and Emma Horn, Lily Simonton, Hunter Hogan and wife Bekah, and Kyler Hogan. Ronnie is also survived by his former wife, Mickie Ash Bearden of Breckenridge; one brother, Rodney Morse and wife Jeanell of Saraland, Alabama; and one sister, Phyllis Mills of Childress, Texas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful, furry companion, Autumn.
A memorial service honoring Ronnie’s life will be held at Gunsight Baptist Church beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022. The Memorial Service will be under the direction of the staff at Melton Kitchens Funeral home. A visitation will take place immediately after the service until 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations in Ronnie’s name be made to the Stephens County Humane Society, Gunsight Baptist Church Mobile Food Pantry, or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
