David Lloyd Rollins, 65, of Columbus, went to be with the Lord on July 28, 2022, with his family at his side at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital in Houston, Texas.

He was born on December 22, 1956, in Eagle Lake, Texas, the son of Harold Lloyd and Annie (Marx) Rollins.

In 1982, David met and married the love of his life, Virginia Ramirez. They lived in Eagle Lake for many years, then moved to Columbus to be closer to the family. After their divorce in 2003, they remained friends throughout the years.

David continued to live in Columbus and devoted his life to his family and grandchildren, which he loved wholeheartedly. David enjoyed attending family gatherings, always ready for a good game of poker, fishing on the lake, riding his motorcycle, love of animals, old music, and eating with family and friends at Maria’s Restaurant, his favorite.

He worked for an oil rig for a short time. He always enjoyed mechanic work, tinkering with cars of his own until he found his passion with the “Big Rig” and started his career as a driver of 18-wheeler trucks. His trucker friends knew him as the “Pink Panther” as he traveled the highways. He drove for several companies; lastly, he worked for Sealy Concrete for 20 years and recently retired.

David was a 3rd Degree Knight member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 12558 in Frydek, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Annie; his sister, Joyce; and his brother, Neil Kansteiner.

Survivors include his siblings Barbara Kuciemba and husband Garry, Donald Rollins and wife Nora, Beverly Rollins, Derrick Rollins and wife Mar sha, Harold Rollins Jr. and wife Brandie, and Ronnie Rollins Jr. and wife Janie; daughter Kristy Woolman and husband Charlie; grandchildren Tabitha, Samantha, Justice, and Chloe Woolman; great-grandchild Carter Keys; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2022, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas. Funeral service to be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at 10 a.m. with Deacon John Glueck officiating at Henneke Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Eagle Lake.
