Police Find $200K Worth Of Stolen Items, Drugs In Belfast Home

The Hancock County Sheriff's Department says items linked to at least 15 active burglary cases in three different counties were seized from a home in Belfast this week, as part of an ongoing investigation.

According to a press release issued Wednesday, a joint investigation into the matter involving members of the Maine State Police, Hancock County Sheriff's Office, and the Ellsworth Police Department, has been going on for the better part of 8 months, after items were reported stolen in Hancock, Penobscot and Waldo Counties.

Authorities say the investigation recently led them to the Patterson Hill Rd. home of Anthony Night in Belfast, where they executed a search warrant for the stolen items.

"...approximately $200,000.00 in stolen property was recovered, recovered items include, power tools, utility trailers, snowmobiles, snowplows, tires a motor vehicle and approximately 62 grams of methamphetamine, prescription medication and approximately $3000.00 in suspected drug proceeds."

As a result of the investigation, Monday, August 1st, officers arrested 56-year-old Anthony Knight and 44-year-old Robert Larrabee, both of Belfast, and charged the men with Theft Class C unauthorized taking.

"Larrabee and Knight were booked into the Hancock County Jail and have since been released on bail. The investigation is currently continuing, more charges are pending."

Members of the Belfast and Searsport Police Departments, along with the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency also helped execute the search warrant.
