TAMPA — As USF administrators sort through proposals for the Bulls’ on-campus football stadium, coach Jeff Scott is limited in what he can say publicly.

Except for this: He believes the long-awaited facility is going to be built.

“They’re not trying to see if it can happen, or if we can make it happen and how much money do we need …” Scott said Wednesday as the Bulls prepared to open preseason camp. “It’s going to happen.”

Design and construction companies had until July 22 to submit bids, with formal presentations happening later this month. The goal is to have the board of trustees approve the project at its Sept. 6 meeting. Trustees have pushed to have the stadium open for the 2026 season.

USF has been quiet on many details, including the budget ($350 million is one ballpark estimate) and where that money will come from. Details on the competitive bids won’t become public until later, either.

Scott said he expects more announcements later this year — maybe even new renderings. Until then he remains “very excited by everything that I’ve seen and heard.”

“The biggest thing is, it’s not whether it’s going to happen or not,” Scott reiterated. “It’s going to happen.”

Scott also provided an update to another major facilities project, the indoor practice facility. He said it will be ready “sometime this fall,” hopefully around the team’s Oct. 22 open date.

“It’s going to be incredible,” Scott said.
