Yesterday, Lowndes County Superintendent Dr. Shawn Haralson celebrated the new school year with the One Lowndes Family at Lowndes County Schools' annual Convocation.
Haralson reminded staff that, "while we are proud of where we are at, we are "Vikings on the Move," constantly looking for growth."
The keynote speaker for the event was Mark Scharenbroich, who reminded the One Lowndes Family of the importance of human connection and brand as they kick off a new school year.
Scharenbroich is a motivational speaker, humorist, and author.
At yesterday's convocation, each school's Teacher of the Year was recognized and awarded.
Chase Ellingburg, was named the 2022-2023 Lowndes County Schools District Teacher of the Year.
Ellingburg is the ELA Instructional Lead Teacher at Lowndes High School.
He will move forward to compete for the Georgia Teacher of the Year.
Ellinburg says, “Students rarely see themselves as agents of change in their own education. This should not be the norm. I try to be an advocate for the development of a learning-centered culture. If learning remains cemented to the core of every classroom, then teachers and students can simultaneously fulfill course objectives together."
