Stony Creek Metropark Dog Park review and info. New for 2022, this is the first Metropark to to host an off-leash dog area. Located at the Oakgrove Picnic area, the dog area has plenty of convenient parking and a wide trail to access the dog facility from the lot.
When driving, Oakgrove Picnic area is located on the East Side (Macomb County) side of the park. After entering the park via the park toll booth, veer right. Oakgrove Picnic Area will be on your left-hand side.
The dog park area features a water bottle and pet water bowl filling station, benches, dog waste stations, and planting bed. The dog park has a Small Dog area for dogs 15 lbs and under.
Gravel surfaces are used in the high traffic areas to better hold urine and are used for paths to around the park. People bathrooms on-site are limited to a handicap accessible portojohn type unit but between Oakgrove East and Oakgrove West picnic areas there are indoor bathrooms.
The “on-leash” and “off-leash” areas are clearly defined. The Stony Creek Dog Park does not feature a designated swimming area for dogs and the dog park itself is quite a bit of distance from Stony Creek Lake. The area for large dogs to run is a HUGE, wide-open field. The area is contained in nicely with an attractive wood fence and even features some tree shade.
Dogs are allowed on 6ft leashes throughout the park and trails at Stony Creek Park, this “dog park” feature is so dogs can safely run free on their trips to Stony Creek. Dogs must be on a leash when entering and exiting the off leash dog area.
The Stony Creek Dog Park is FREE to use. A Metroparks vehicle pass is required to enter any Metropark. Vehicle permits are on sale NOW. You can pick one up at metroparks.com OR visit your local Metropark today.
