Kelly Sheffield has enjoyed a successful run leading Wisconsin’s volleyball program. Last season, the Badgers rolled to their first-ever national championship and took down Nebraska in a dramatic final match.

Now, Sheffield is taking part in the B1G’s Volleyball Media Days, the first of its kind. While Sheffield enjoys what the B1G is doing, he also called on the need for other conference’s to follow suit in 2023.

“This can’t be a one-year deal,” said Sheffield on Tuesday. “This has got to be done in a way that people find value in this and get to Year 2 or 3…

“If we’re the only conference that’s doing this next year then there’s a little bit of failure in that. The B1G has shown great leadership in being the first one, but there’s gotta be 3, 4, 7 conferences doing this next year.”

The B1G continues to do its part in trying to grow the exposure of volleyball, including playing a record number of televised matches in 2022. Now, the B1G needs other conferences to step up and do the same.
