August is the month for several Nebraska Extension Field Days.
Nebraska Extension Educator Steve Melvin has more on education programs farmers and ag professionals can attend.
The South Central Ag Lab Field Day near Clay Center is Thursday, August 4.
Participants can choose from multiple field research trials and topics to tour. The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. at 851 Hwy. 6 near Harvard, NE.
Come learn about current, up-to-date topics focusing on improved crop production and profitability! Each year more than 100 applied field research trials are conducted at SCAL by University of Nebraska–Lincoln faculty and USDA Agricultural Research Service scientists. Trials are focused on irrigation and water management, soil fertility, entomology, weed science, cropping systems and disease management.
The day will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m., followed by tours of research sites. Lunch and refreshments included.
The Soybean Management Field Days series will be the week of August 8. This year two sites are in our region, the first is south of Blue Hill on August 9, and the second is in the Central City area on August 10 starting at 9:30 am.
