Suspect charged in shooting outside Tuscaloosa lounge that hurt innocent bystander

A west Alabama man has been charged in connection with a shooting outside Tuscaloosa restaurant and lounge that injured an innocent bystander.

The gunfire rang out about 1:20 a.m. Wednesday at Spades on Culver Road.

Authorities said there was an altercation between two groups of people. One group armed themselves once outside the establishment and fired multiple rounds at the other group, said Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Capt. Jack Kennedy.

One person was struck. The victim, who was not part of either group, was taken to DCHR Regional Medical Center.

Corey Lewis, 24, of Eutaw, is charged with first-degree assault. He was arrested Friday and has since been released on $60,000.

Kennedy said the investigation is ongoing and several other potential suspects are still sought.
