Roger Westerhouse braked his westbound Ford Edge at the stop sign at White County Roads 1250 South and 100 East about 9:30 a.m. Monday, then drove into the intersection and into the path of a southbound Dodge Durango, according to Indiana State Police.

The Durango, driven Shannon Lank, 50, of Brookston, struck the passenger-side of Westerhouse's Ford, according to Indiana State Police. It's where Mary Westerhouse, 69, of Monticallo, was sitting. She died at the scene, police said.

The east/west traffic has the stop sign, and the north/southbound traffic does not have a stop sign, according to Google Streetview maps.

The collision sent the Durango and the Edge off the southwest corner of the intersection, and the Durango rolled, police said.

Roger Westerhouse, 70, of Monticello, and Lank both survived the crash and were taken to a Lafayette hospital for treatment, said police, who did not know their conditions.
