If you love birds, or would just like to learn more about them, the Canton Audubon Society plans an early-morning walk Saturday at Stark County's only designated "Important Birding Location."

The event for Audubon members and non-members will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at The Wilderness Center.

In addition to backyard birds you might know, participants will look for species like Red-headed Woodpeckers, Yellow-Breasted Chats, Scarlet Tanagers, Indigo Buntings and the Yellow-Throated Vireo in the Sigrist Woods and Foxfield Preserve at The Wilderness Center near Wilmot.

The hike will be led by local Audubon Club Vice President Scott Watkins. Bring binoculars or borrow some from the club. The trails at The Wilderness Center graveled, but unpaved, with moderate elevation changes, and also include some boardwalks. Meet under the solar panels at the entrance to the park, 9877 Alabama Ave. SW in Wilmot.
