Two people are dead after a head-on crash between a pickup and a big rig on US 54 in Dallam County on Saturday night.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said the crash happened at about 10:15 p.m. about seven miles southwest of Stratford.
Martin Estrada-Cortez, 60, of Mexico, was driving a 2016 Freightliner towing a semi-trailer southwest on US 54 while Blas Maldonado-Arreola, 59, of Perryton was traveling northeast in a 2008 Nissan Titan.
For unknown reasons, the pickup crossed the center stripe into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into the big rig.
The Titan then went off the road to the right and hit a utility pole.
Maldonado-Arreola and passenger, Patricia Ruiz-Carbajal, 58, of Perryton, both died on the scene and were pronounced by Dallam County Justice of the Peace Carol Smith.
Estrada-Cortez was taken to a Moore County hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Texas Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
