UPDATED Victims of Elm Creek shooting, disturbance identified

UPDATE 8/1/22 6:55 p.m. 

The shooting victim has been identified as Richard Rios, 29, Houston, TX. Rios received a gunshot wound to the lower torso. It is not known at this time if the shooting was accidental or intentional.

Also injured in the disturbance were a 38-year-old North Platte man and a 49-year-old Elwood man.

No arrests have been made at this time, the investigation remains ongoing.

Deputies were assisted by members of the Nebraska State Patrol and Dawson County Sheriff’s Office.

ELM CREEK, Neb.-Authorities in Buffalo County are investigating a shooting that left three people injured.

The Buffalo County Sheriff's Office said at around 12:39 a.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to a shooting at Paradise City, 1780 Highway 183, near Elm Creek, on the report of a shooting.

Deputies arrived and learned that three people had been shot during a disturbance.

Authorities said a 29-year-old male was transported to Lexington Regional Hospital with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was later transported to another medical facility. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Additionally, a 49-year-old male was transported by private vehicle to CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney with serious facial injuries. A 38-year-old male was transported by ambulance to Good Samaritan with minor facial injuries.

Authorities said no arrests have been made the investigation is open and ongoing.
