Multnomah County is reporting five heat-related deaths have happened in the county as of Sunday, July 31.

The county medical examiner says two more people died Saturday. All five deaths have occurred in Portland.

These deaths are preliminary suspected cases and are under investigation as potential heat-related deaths.

Further tests and investigations will determine if they are officially heat-related.

Multnomah County announced Sunday morning that cooling stations will remain open through tonight.
