(WLUK) -- Brown and Door counties have dropped out of the "high" category for COVID-19 spread.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's latest weekly update shows Brown, Door, Marinette, Oconto, Menominee, Shawano, Winnebago, Waushara, Green Lake and Fond du Lac counties in the "medium" category. At that level, the CDC recommends those at high risk consider wearing masks and taking precautions.
All other area counties are in the "low" category.
More than two dozen counties in the rest of the state are listed in the "high" category. At that level, the CDC recommends everyone wear a mask in public indoor settings.
Meanwhile, new cases in Wisconsin declined for the second straight day. The state Department of Health Services reported the seven-day average at 1,785, down from 1,801 on Tuesday. There were 1,884 new cases reported on Thursday.
Test positivity declined to a seven-day average of 14.8%.
With one new death, the seven-day average of deaths held steady at three.
Since the pandemic began, Wisconsin has reported nearly 1.6 million cases and 13,222 deaths.
As of Friday, 64.6% of the state's population had received at least one dose of vaccine, 61.5% had completed the initial vaccine series and 35.1% had received an additional or booster dose.
Hospitalizations fell to close out the work week. The Wisconsin Hospital Association reported treating 482 COVID-19 patients, 15 fewer than on Thursday but 20 more than a week earlier. Of those, 85 were in intensive care, seven more than on Thursday and 16 more than a week earlier.
Northeast region hospitals had 49 COVID-19 patients, up two over both a day and a week. Of those, 10 were in ICUs, flat from Thursday and up four over a week. In the Fox Valley region, there were 32 COVID-19 patients, one more than on Thursday and 26 more than a week earlier. Four of those were in ICUs, the same as on Thursday and one more than a week earlier.
