ROSSTON – July’s meeting of the Nevada School Board Thursday, saw the panel approve food bids for the coming school year.

Little else was on the agenda, other than approving a cash flow loan from Farmer’s Bank, approving revisions to the teacher and minority recruitment and retention plans. The only change there was due to the law changing and requiring the plan to be for three years instead of 10.

The board also accepted the resignation of Bailey Smith, girls basketball coach and teacher.

As to the food service bids, Cisco and Tankersley were approved as suppliers with the contracts including provisions for price hikes, if needed. However, the district is protected as the contract also allows it to go with whichever company provides the lowest cost on a line item basis. The milk and dairy bid went to Hiland. There were no bidders for paper and cleaning products, so these will either be purchased from local vendors or on line.

Teachers report back to school Monday, Aug. 2, with open house Aug. 9 and the first day of school Aug. 15.
