SUBLETTE COUNTY – A Marbleton woman was arrested late on July 4 after deputies responded to two calls about her alleged actions that day.
Chelsey M. Smith was charged July 5 with misdemeanors of reckless endangering, criminal trespass, interference with a peace officer, breach of peace and property destruction. She was also charged with violating a protection order, records show.
On July 5, Smith appeared before Sublette County Circuit Judge Curt Haws, who set her bond at $10,000 cash or surety with stipulations that she have no altercations, not consume alcohol, not carry a firearm or have any contact with two men whose home she went to on July 4, among other conditions.
Deputy Dan Ruby reported that he went to Smith’s home on 12th Street in Marbleton around 11:55 p.m. to question her about an earlier incident. Smith allegedly went to a man’s home where he lives with his father after they told her on June 30 “that they no longer wanted her on the property,” according to the deputy’s affidavit.
The man had a video he said was of Smith coming onto the property late at night and possibly stealing things. He also said she vandalized his vehicle by scratching f--- you on it.
When Smith drove away from their house, the man said her saw her hand come out the window, saw a muzzle flash, heard a gunshot and heard a casing hit the pavement about 20 feet from him, the affidavit says.

Deputy Josh Peterson arrived and contacted Sublette EMS, who treated Smith’s puncture wounds, and another deputy took her to the Sublette County Detention Center.
On July 6, Smith pleaded not guilty to all of the charges and demanded a six-person jury trial, set for Nov. 29 with a pretrial conference on Oct. 31 at 9:30 a.m.
