Ravens RB Gus Edwards officially listed as ‘questionable’ for Week 1

The Baltimore Ravens may be without Gus Edwards to start the 2022 season, but the team has acquired enough running back depth to prepare for a worst-case scenario.
Edwards joins Ronnie Stanley, J.K. Dobbins, Marcus Peters, Tyus Bowser, and Ar’Darius Washington on the PUP list to begin training camp. At the moment, there is no definite timeline for when Edwards will return as he continues to rehab his torn ACL.
The fifth-year running back tore his ACL last September and missed the entire 2021 season, and head coach John Harbaugh recently disclosed that Edwards is questionable to play in the Ravens’ season-opener against the New York Jets.
Good thing the Ravens have a contingency plan — or six of them.
Though projected starter J.K. Dobbins remains adamant he will return in time to play Week 1, the Ravens will be prepared this time around if the injury plague of 2021 strikes again.
With Ravens reportedly signing Corey Clement, it gives them 7 total RBs.

It’s a lot, but remember JK Dobbins & Gus Edwards are on PUP. Plus, Ravens want to be cautious. Their approach to practice is different after so many injuries last year. Depth is important in camp.
Ravens’ Gus Edwards may not recover in time for the 2022 season-opener
When healthy, Dobbins and Edwards form one of the most lethal running back duos in the league with Dobbins recording 805 rushing yards and six touchdowns and Edwards recording 723 rushing yards and six touchdowns in their last full seasons.
Edwards has more experience between the two but hasn’t seen a huge jump in production since he joined the Ravens in 2018, and compared to the younger talent on the team, Edwards’ ceiling appears capped.
In the event both Dobbins and Edwards have to sit out, the Ravens have 2022 sixth-rounder Tyler Badie and veteran Mike Davis ready to take starting snaps. Behind them, Justice Hill, Nate McCrary, and recent acquisition Corey Clement provide much-needed depth in the running back room.
Of course, the hope in Ravens camp is that Dobbins and Edwards both return to full strength in time to terrorize the Jets and their pitiful run defense.
