SURVEYOR, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Tumultuous weather conditions have acted as the bane of many a planned summer activity throughout the Mountain State over the past months, and the pattern appears to be continuing this week as Lake Stephens has announced the closure of several attractions Thursday due to storms in the area.
A Thursday morning announcement indicates that Lake Stephens’ beach, splash pad, and aqua park attractions will be closed for the duration of the day on July 28, 2022, with lake attractions tentatively set to reopen tomorrow.
“We apologize for any inconveniences and hope to reopen on Friday, July 29th, 2022,” the announcement read.
Recreation hasn’t been the only facet of West Virginia life affected by recurring summer storms, as travel has been severely impacted in many areas as well .
First responders and maintenance crews have worked tirelessly to assist in areas suffering from roadway/property damage as well as general flooding.
Greenbrier, McDowell, Fayette, Wyoming, and Mingo are some of the counties throughout Southern West Virginia which have been most severely impacted by recent flash flooding, and Governor Jim Justice declared a State of Preparedness for all 55 counties earlier this week.
