“Aquatic Insects: What Are They and Why Should I Care?” is the featured PowerPoint program at the monthly meeting of the Trevose Horticultural Society on Tuesday, Aug. 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the Bensalem Senior Center, 1850 Byberry Road.

Guest speaker and Master Watershed Steward Lynnett Saunders will explain macroinvertebrates, including what they are and why they are important. Both her master’s degrees from West Chester University and her Ph.D. from Drexel University were in ecology/freshwater ecology. Prior to retiring, Saunders worked for several environmental consulting firms and taught at high school and college levels. Saunders stays active volunteering with the Audubon Society, her township’s environmental advisory council, local land trust and the Penn State Extension Master Watershed Stewards, to name a few.
