County Fair fun coming to San Juan first week of August

The 2022 rippin’ roarin’ San Juan County Fair has all the fixings to be a week of fun times and memories. The festivities will begin Monday, August 1, and last till Saturday, August 6.
The theme for this year’s addition to the long-lasting tradition of the County fair is “Far and Wide, Show Your County Pride.”
Open class entries for the general fair exhibits will be taken on Monday from 2:00-6:00 pm and Tuesday from 1:00-6:00 pm. Foods, flowers, crops and small animals can be brought in on Wednesday from 7:00-9:00 am.
Monday, August 1
Monday night kicks off the week with the annual Navajo taco dinner fundraiser for the Monticello High School wrestling team. The dinner goes from 5-7 p.m. Come help raise money for the local wrestling program and get a meal for $8 or a family deal for $40.
Right after dinner is the “Fair”ly Fun Game Show Night. Free to attend and participate in games to win cash prizes!
The night ends with the Family Movie Night at the Fair starting at 9:00 p.m. This outdoor movie will be projected on the back of the arena bleachers. Bring pillows, blankets, or chairs and lay out on the grass.
Tuesday, August 2
The classic Mud Volleyball tournament will be the headline of Tuesday night kicking off at 6:00 p.m. It’s not only free to attend, but it is also free to participate! To sign up your team of six or more players, contact (435) 459-1826. Limited spots are available.
Wednesday, August 3
Wednesday activities include Goat Roping competition starting at 5:00 p.m the Farm Bureau Talent Find follows at 7:00 pm
While organizers will accept general entries on Monday and Tuesday at the fair building, only items such as baked goods, produce, flowers and small animals will be accepted on Wednesday.
In addition, Wednesday is weigh-in day for the Junior Livestock and Mini Livestock competitions.
Thursday, August 4
This packed day of activities will include the opening of the fair exhibits at 9:00 a.m.
Events include livestock and showmanship judging, 4-H fun at the Fair, and a Children’s Fair.
The headliner of the day will start at 7:30 p.m. with the biggest concert in San Juan County. Country artist Eric Paslay will rock the stage with American Idol Golden Ticket winner Dzaki Sukarno as his opener.
Gates for the concert open at 6:30 p.m. Only those with tickets will be allowed in the fairgrounds at this time. 
Friday, August 5
Recover from your late night at the concert with even more amusement at the fair with the 4-H Fun at the Fair starting at noon, and family fun games starting at 2:30 p.m. 
The local free rodeo and horse games will also take place tonight starting at 7:00 p.m. 
The All Night Softball tournament will also start on Friday at 6:00 p.m. until it of course it ends on Saturday morning. 
Saturday, August 6
Buyer registration and the Junior Livestock Buyer breakfast will be from 7-9 a.m with the auction to follow at 9:00 am.
The Aaron Butler Memorial Purple Heart Run will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the city baseball pavilion. 
Fair building exhibits will be open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 
The Children’s Fair will start at noon and the always fun, free Blue Mountain Youth Rodeo will kick off at 5:30 p.m. 
Make sure to head on down to the County Fair and take advantage of the week of activities being offered to the public.
