State of the City under Moss Point Mayor Billy Knight

For the first time under the new administration, the City of Moss Point hosted its state of the city.

Moss Point Mayor Billy Knight has served the first year of his mayoral team. In today’s State of the City Address, city departments like fire, police, public works, economic development and others shared a year’s worth of progress and projects they are working on for the future.

The departments credit the mayor for pay raises, applying for grant funding, repairing partnerships, and building relationships to better the city.

According to Mayor Billy Knight, ‘we are all in this together.’ “We’ve gotten a few more dollars for the interstate and we’ve got our recreational program up and going, economic development is a big issue because we’ve got to get some money for our tax structure, so we focus on economic development so we did get more funding for the interstate and the project and we’re doing some things downtown that have not been done before, things like bringing more activities on the waterfront that will allow people to get involved more with the city so we’re happy with those comments that we’ve made so far. We have a lot to do still have a long way to go.”

State representatives, school board members, city workers, county staff, and the general public came to Pelican Landing to hear the progress made so far.
