Fielder’s efforts made Harford County the first county in the in the nation to contribute to the wall. When he visited the memorial, Fielder was surprised to see his image.

During Fielder’s time in the Korean War he served in the Marine Corps.

Fielder’s family has an extensive background in the service. His father was a Marine who served in Word War I and his brother was a World War II Marine.

Fielder’s widow, Doris, said the service meant everything to Fielder.

“It meant everything to him,” Doris said. “He lived that war. We’ve heard so many stories and we met so many different veterans from all over the world that fought in the Korean war.”

Fielder’s grandson recently graduated from Liberty University and is now a 1st Lt. in the Army. The stories of Fielder inspired his grandson to serve.
