AUSTIN COUNTY SHRIMP BOIL RESULTS, SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS, AND FAIR QUEEN CANDIDATES ANNOUNCED

The Austin County Fair held their annual Shrimp Boil this past Friday night, and the event turned out to be a huge success.

With a record-breaking turnout, the Austin County Fair asked everyone to “Saddle Up” to support their scholarship program, and they did.

The Live Auction came in at $19,150, while the Dessert Auction brought in another $4,195.  With the gun drawing, the Fair ended up raising over $25,000, not including ticket sales.

Fair officials say they anticipate the Shrimp Boil to finish with approximately $34,000 in profit.

Also at the Shrimp Boil, members of the Austin County Junior Fair Board were awarded $3,000 scholarships in recognition for their hard work.  Recipients were Garrett Melnar, Jacob Kolwes, Mikayla Wrenn, Ashlin Gordon, Maggie Harkey, Hudson Ham, Kylee Svinky, Isaiah Madison, and Patricia Cantu.

To raise money for their collegiate level scholarship, the Junior Fair Board held a silent auction and a 50/50 drawing.  They raised over $2,800 for the fund.

In addition to that, the Austin County Fair Queen Candidates were announced.  They are: Emily Askew, Olivia Bolten, Ashlyn Davila, Ryleigh Gilfoil, Chesney Johnston, Hope Luedeker, Keren Moreno, Kendall Mae Stark, and Jaylen Tesch.

The Queen candidates are now selling tickets to this year’s Austin County Fair, which is coming to Bellville in October.
