A teen is accused of breaking into the Boone County Library. Nineteen-year-old Devon Decker was booked into the Boone County Jail and Detention Center by the Harrison Police Department on Friday on charges of commercial burglary and criminal mischief.

According to KYTV/KSPR, investigators say Decker used a rock to smash the glass out of the south emergency exit door shortly before 1 Friday morning. He also allegedly damaged multiple computers, an internal door, decorations and a vending machine. Harrison Police Chief Chris Graddy says Decker called the department shortly after the break-in. Chief Graddy claims Decker said he was in the Boone County Library and wanted to give himself up.

According to the police report, Decker told police was mourning the recent loss of his daughter and was upset. Chief Graddy says three officers and the K9 unit arrived on the scene. He said Decker came willingly and was placed under arrest.

Library staff said surveillance video captured the incident. They’re in the process of replacing the door and damaged computers. Damage is estimated at $2,500.
