Rodin wins Rebel Midwest Modified Tour stop at MCS

MILLER — With 31 drivers on hand Lucas Rodin of Marion, N.D., recorded a victory in the 2022 Rebel Midwest Modified Tour on Saturday at Miller Central Speedway.

It was third tour win for Rodin, who moved to within six points of Cody Lee of Starbuck, Minn., for the top spot in the tour’s standings entering the final points night of the tour on Sunday at Casino Speedway in Watertown.

Lee, who needed to come through the B main event to earn a spot on the 24-car starting grid for the feature race Saturday, charged from 18th to second during the 20-lap race.

Jason Grimes of Jamestown, N.D., was third, followed by Mike Nichols of Watertown and Brock Gronwold of Fergus Falls, Minn.

Winning Midwest modified heat races Saturday at the Miller oval were Rodin, Reise Stenberg of Argusville, N.D., Gronwold and Nichols.

Corey Storck of Morris, Minn., claimed the win in the Midwest modified B-main event.

The WISSOTA street stock class also had and expanded field with several drivers making their first appearance at the speedway.

Newcommer Jeff Nowak of Wasau, Wis., collected the win in the 15-lap street stock feature race during his first visit to Miller Central Speedway.

Nowak moved from eighth to first to secure the victory.

Colten Klueckman of Wausau, Wis., was second, in the 22-car field, while Maria Broksieck of Goodwin was third. Rounding out the top five were Kyle Bertram of Dallas and Michael Bogh of Huron in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Winning the street stock heat races were Spence Pollock of Orient, Nowak, Luke Johnson of Miller and Justin Vogel of Brooten, Minn.


Andrew Zastrow of Gann Valley (8Z) leads Derek Zastrow of Gann Valley during their WISSOTA super stock heat race on Saturday at Miller Central Speedway.

Blake Whitlock of Watertown claimed the win in the 15-lap WISSOTA super stock main event on Saturday.

It was his second win of the season at Miller and fourth overall.

Dale Tomes of Dell Rapids trailed Whitlock across the line to claim second, while Nathan Grehl of Hitchcock, who won on Friday at Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, was third. Austin Arbogast of Huron was fourth, followed by Brad Kopecky of Miller.

Whitlock and Tomes won the super stock heat races.

Brian Diede of Huron held off Mike Stearns of Aberdeen to record his first win of the season in the WISSOTA modified feature race.

Dale Ames of Huron was third, followed by Tyler Anglin of Aberdeen and Kelly Duffy of Winner.

Stearns won the lone modified heat race.

Cody Songer of Wolsey also collected his first win of the season Saturday in the Pump-N-Pak pure stock division.

Mike Hammill of Miller was second, followed by Wyatt Brooker of Tulare and Andy Brooker of Tulare.

Songer also won the lone heat race for the pure stocks.

The WISSOTA late models will rejoin the field for the next event at Miller Central Speedway, which is at 7 p.m., on Saturday.
