The Charlotte Hornets are interested in bringing back former franchise player Kemba Walker, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
The Hornets are also interested in re-signing Isaiah Thomas and considering other free-agent backup point guards to play behind All-Star LaMelo Ball, Charania reports.
Charlotte is reportedly monitoring the legal process of restricted free agent Miles Bridges as well. The 24-year-old pleaded not guilty to felony domestic violence and child abuse charges last week.
Walker is expected to finalize a contract buyout with the Detroit Pistons. The club acquired him in June in a salary-dumping move by the New York Knicks that helped them sign Jalen Brunson.
The 32-year-old spent eight seasons in Charlotte after the franchise drafted him ninth overall in 2011. Walker ranks first in points, minutes played, free throws, 2-pointers, and 3-pointers in franchise history. He earned three consecutive All-Star nods while in Charlotte and made the All-NBA third team in 2019. Walker also led the club to the playoffs in 2014 and 2016.
Thomas averaged 8.3 points in 17 games with Charlotte last season.
