A decision on paroling a man who has done prison time on charges from Baxter, Carroll and Izard Counties has been deferred, according to a notification released last week.

Charges filed against 40-year-old Jared Holland include sexual assault, intimidating a witness, aggravated assault on two occasions and possessing a firearm and illegal drugs.

The most serious charges were filed against Holland in Carroll County while he was living in Berryville.

In late February, 2017, he pled guilty and received a 12-year prison sentence on charges stemming from his having inappropriate sexual contact with a 15-year-old family member.

He was also alleged to have threatened to kill a family member with knowledge of what had happened if she ever told anyone what he had done.

The incidents in Carroll County date back to mid-June, 2016.

Since 2017, Holland’s case has been before the parole board nine times; the latest hearing was held May 31.

BAXTER COUNTY INCIDENT

Holland’s first aggravated assault charge stemmed from an incident in 2005 in which he was alleged to have come to work at a Mountain Home nursing home after consuming both alcohol and drugs.

During the nursing home confrontation, Holland is reported to have argued with another staff member, followed the person into a patient’s room and displayed a knife in his possession.

DREW GUN ON OFFICERS

In October 2009, Holland was stopped in Izard County on an outstanding arrest warrant. When he was ordered out of the vehicle, he pulled a firearm and told law enforcement officers not to come any closer to him.

He was taken into custody without shots being fired.

In December 2014, Holland was declared a fugitive when he broke off contact with his parole officer. He was found almost two weeks later and arrested in Missouri.

Holland is an inmate in the Delta Regional Unit of the state prison system in Dermott.
