Rydell "Super” Mayes Jr. exorcised a huge demon haunting his professional progress on Saturday night in Murfreesboro, TN. Mayes Jr. blitzed Jaden Booth in just forty seconds of round number one to advance his dossier to 13-1 (12 KOs).

The southpaw suffered his lone defeat to Booth last February after hurting him in opening round. Booth rallied for a third-round stoppage in their first encounter, but this time the Knoxville tough man wasn’t even allowed to warm up as Mayes swarmed him instantly after hurting him with a booming right hand. The Tri-Star Boxing cruiserweight stepped back up to heavyweight to earn his redemption.

“I couldn’t shake it,” Mayes Jr. stated. “I had to return to the scene of the crime to make it right. "I want to thank all of my friends and family who support me. I had to show that I was the better fighter and I couldn’t let this loss go."

Since losing to Booth, Mayes Jr., 33, has now won five straight inside of two rounds. Because of his southpaw stance, “Super” Mayes has been called into training camp with Ilunga Makabu and Jake Paul this year. Mayes expects to return to Puerto Rico to help Paul finish out camp ahead of his match against Hasim Rahman Jr.

UFC veteran and BKFC top-rated contender, Alan Belcher was forced to work for his fifth professional boxing victory. Belcher, 5-0 (5 KOs), hurt Rayford Johnson repeatedly throughout the contest, but the stubborn veteran of forty bouts hung on and stung the favored boxer with errant punches throughout.

Johnson hit the canvas three times – once in the first and twice in the fifth- in the five rounds before the bout was stopped at the 2:14 mark. The Belcher, 38, is slated to return for Tri-Star Boxing’s upcoming show on August 20 in Oak Grove, KY. He hails from Mississippi.

Eridanni Leon scored a second-round stoppage at the 1:09 mark to earn his seventh victory as a professional. Leon, 30, worked his punches well in combination and found an inviting target in Anthony Woods. Leon dropped Woods twice in earn frame, mostly by targeting the mid-section of Woods. Leon hails from Inglewood, CA and raised his dossier to 7-4 (3 KOs). The bout was contested in the welterweight division.

The heavyweight special attraction bout featuring Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller against Derek Cardenas provided meaningful work for the come-backing heavyweight who fought on U.S. soil for the first time in nearly four years. Miller shed eleven pounds since his June 23 return to the ring, scaling 328. Miller, 34, stopped Cardenas in four rounds after a patient start.

Miller’s plan has been to stay active and shed rust, which is precisely what unfolded in Murfreesboro. Cardenas proved mettlesome at first, sticking out his jab and catching Miller on his way inside. However, the Mexican heavyweight could not hold off the on-charging Miller, who scored three knockdowns before the bout came to a close.

Miller lifted his ledger to 25-0-1 (21 KOs) and proved he still possessed excellent punching skills in combination. The Greg Cohen Promotions/Salita Promotions boxer was in good spirits following the victory and thanked the local crowd for their support. He affirmed the plan is still to remain active throughout this year.
