A group of fans chanted, “We want Tank,” as Ryan Garcia was interviewed by DAZN’s broadcast team on a stage inside Crytpo.com Arena after he knocked out Javier Fortuna in the sixth round Saturday night.

Wherever he goes, Garcia gets similar feedback from fans who want to see him finally fight Gervonta Davis. The intense demand for a showdown with Davis has encouraged Garcia to push hard for that high-profile pay-per-view event to happen next.

“It’s not so much about Tank,” Garcia said. “It’s just about the people. The people want me to fight Tank. It could’ve been Devin Haney, if the people wanted Devin Haney. You know? These people stayed out, you know, 30 minutes, 40 minutes, an hour after my fight and they’re screaming, ‘We want Tank!’

“I told everybody, I go around, I walk around any place, it doesn’t matter if it’s Texas, it doesn’t matter if it’s New York, it doesn’t matter if I’m in a different country, they just say, ‘We want Tank.’ So, I’m gonna give the people what they want, or I’m gonna try to.”

If Garcia, 23, and Davis, 27, are to fight next, it’ll require cooperation among their competing promoters and platforms.

Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) is promoted by Oscar De La Hoya’s company and DAZN has streamed his last six fights. Davis (27-0, 25 KOs) is promoted by Floyd Mayweather’s company and has had his last 11 fights televised by Showtime either live on that network or on pay-per-view.

Robert Gasparri, chief operating officer for Golden Boy Promotions, stated during the post-fight press conference that DAZN would have to be involved in distributing a Davis-Garcia fight. DAZN distributed its first pay-per-view event May 7, when Dmitry Bivol upset Canelo Alvarez by unanimous decision at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

“I’m just gonna leave it up to my team to figure that part out,” Garcia said. “Where there’s a will there’s a way. And I’m just gonna be out here to try to give the people what they want, and my team will figure that out. I don’t know. … But I know that [manager] Lupe [Valencia] has a great relationship with Al Haymon and everybody, so you know, we’ll figure it out.”

Garcia believes Davis wants to fight him, but he expressed disappointment regarding Davis’ post-fight Tweet on Saturday night. Davis didn’t mention Garcia by name when he indicated that he’ll return to the ring before the end of this year.

“I just don’t like that he doesn’t make things clear,” said Garcia, who wants Davis to move up from 135 pounds to 140 for their fight. “You know, if he says, ‘See you in December,’ make things a little bit clearer. ‘Ryan, let’s get it on.’ I feel like I’m very transparent in the way I talk. I call him out not because I’m thirsty. I call him out because that’s genuinely what I wanna do. So, we’ll figure it out with the teams and we’ll make it happen. I wanna do this for the people and I know everybody wants this fight to happen. So, I’ll be putting my whole heart to try to make this fight.”
