Kim Fields talks reuniting with 'Good Times' co-star Janet Jackson

A good time was certainly had by all.

Janet Jackson and Kim Fields reunited at the 2022 Essence Festival in New Orleans earlier this month after not seeing each other in over a decade.

The two previously appeared together as children in the classic 1970s sitcom "Good Times." Jackson starred as Millicent "Penny" Gordon Woods during the show's final two seasons, while Fields, whose mother Chip also acted on the series, made guest appearances as Penny's friend, Kim, in two episodes during the final season.

"We've been calling that 'the hug heard around the world,'" Fields told E! News on Monday of her reunion with Jackson at the annual music festival. "We hadn't seen each other in about 15 years. And so, it was wonderful to see her, but we've known each other since I was 7."

Fields shared their reunion video on Instagram July 3. In it, the two women are seen happily embracing, chatting about their lives briefly, and then posing for a heartwarming photo together.

"[A]s if no time has passed…♥️ @janetjackson," Fields wrote in the caption.

Just a few days later, Jackson shared the video as well, writing on Instagram, "So good to see u @kimfieldsofficial! LUV u."

Fields starred as Tootie in "The Facts of Life" from 1979 to 1988, following her turn on "Good Times." She also starred in "Living Single" from 1993 to 1998.

When asked about the possibility of a "Living Single" reboot, Fields said she would be ready, but only if it preserved the strong legacy of the series.

"You don't want to just throw everything together, like, 'What would we be doing now? What are these characters doing?'" Fields said. "These characters are so beloved. We love how people love 'Living Single.'"

Both "Good Times" and "The Facts of Life" have been featured in Jimmy Kimmel and Norman Lear's "Live in Front of a Studio Audience" specials for ABC.
