James Richard “Dick” Crosby, 87, of Roachdale went to his heavenly home on the morning of Monday, July 18, 2022.
He was born July 30, 1934, at Crawfordsville, to the late Robert and Jean (Heighway) Crosby. He married Cora Elizabeth “Liz” Wilson on Aug. 30, 1959, at Crawfordsville.
Dick graduated from Roachdale High School with the class of 1952. After graduation he began his lifelong career working in telecommunications. He first worked at Thomas Telephone in Roachdale, then General Telephone in Greencastle, and lastly Verizon until retirement in 1991.
Dick enjoyed trapshooting, he was an avid fan of Purdue basketball and football and loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the Roachdale Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years and the Masonic Lodge for 60 years.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Liz; daughter Julie Ann Heron, Crawfordsville; grandson Reece Thomas Heron, Chicago; granddaughter Jenny Elizabeth Heron, Crawfordsville; sisters-in-law, Lola Crosby, Roachdale, Gloria (Dick) German, Crawfordsville, Beverly (Larry) Hartle, Crawfordsville, Deborah (Tom) DeFreitas, Fort Payne, Alabama, Phyllis Neff, Festus, Missouri; and brother-in-law Winston (Gini) Wilson, Crawfordsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law Tom Heron; brother John Crosby;and brothers-in-law, Joe Wilson and John Neff.
Funeral service will be at noon Saturday, July 23 at the Roachdale Presbyterian Church, 14 N. Indiana St., Roachdale, with Pastor David Bower officiating. Burial will follow in Roachdale Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Servies & Morgan Funeral Home has been entrusted with Dick’s funeral arrangements.
