Benton Township Police Department reports a rise in car thefts

BENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Benton Township has seen a rise in cases of car theft, with 13 cars stolen in June alone, according to the Benton Township Police Department.

Officials say that many of the suspects involved are underage, but since the local juvenile center is full, many child suspects are let go.

Police warn that Hyundai and Kia cars are the most targeted brands, and that kids will often steal a car only to abandon it shortly after.
