W LEAGUE TROPHY. KICKOFF IS SET FOR 8 P.M. A PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL PLAYER FROM SAVANNAH GIVING BACK TO HIS COMMUNITY-- HOSTING A BASKETBALL CAMP THIS WEEKEND. CHRIS COKLEY, A PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL PLAYER OVER- SEAS AND SAVANNAH NATIVE-- -HOSTING THE FIRST "CHRIS COKLEY ELITE BASKETBALL CAMP" AT JENKINS ATHLETIC CLUB. THE TWO DAY CAMP HAPPENING ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY FROM 9 IN THE MORNING UNTIL 1 IN THE AFTERNOON. OVER 75 BOYS AND GIRLS ATTENDING THE CAMP FROM AGES 6 TO 14. THE KIDS TAKING PART IN SHOOTING DRILLS, WORKING ON LAYUPS AND COMPETING WITH EACH OTHER TO GET BETTER. AFTER THE DRILLS, THE KIDS WERE ABLE TO PUT THEIR SKILLS TO THE TEST ---PLAYING A 5 ON 5 GAME. COKLEY SAYS, HE WAS IN BASKETBALL CAMPS LIKE THIS GROWING UP. OUTCUE: "WHEN THEY GO TO THEIR RESPECTIVE COACHES, JUST SEEING THEM DO GOOD. THAT MAKES ME HAPPY.

A professional basketball player from Savannah is giving back to his community by hosting a basketball camp this weekend. Chris Cokley, a professional basketball player overseas and Savannah native hosted the first "Chris Cokley Elite Basketball Camp" at Jenkins Athletic Club.The two-day camp happening on Saturday and Sunday from 9 in the morning until 1 in the afternoon. Over 75 boys and girls attended the camp from ages 6 to 14.The kids took part in shooting drills, worked on layups and competed with each other to get better. After the drills, the kids were able to put their skills to the test by playing a 5-on-5 game."Just something to give back to the community, to the kids," Cokley said. "I've always talked about doing a basketball camp. I grew up watching Coach Jordan do basketball camps every single year. I just like giving back to the community.""I'm happy to see that Savannah, the sports in Savannah is starting to get more notoriety than when we were coming up. Just to see these kids want to come in and want to get better, even when they not with me. When they go to their respectable coaches, just seeing them do good. That makes me happy," Cokley said.
