Alleged driver found in woods after body found in Kissimmee car crash, sheriff says
According to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office, one person was killed and another hospitalized in a car crash near the Key West Market in Kissimmee on Thursday.
Deputies were initially called to a crash behind the market off Old Dixie Highway around 4:15 p.m.
That's when Sheriff Marcos Lopez said they found a man in the passenger seat of the car who was dead.
"It's a suspicious death right now," Lopez said.
A K-9 unit then began investigating further, and that's when a second person was found unconscious but with a pulse in a wooded area across the street. Lopez said they believe that was the driver of the car that crashed.
After deputies administered Narcan, the alleged driver was taken to the hospital.
"It could be drug-related," Lopez said. "This whole area here in the city of Kissimmee it's always been significant with this type of drug type trafficking behavior. It's gotten better over the years. Recently, we've seen a little bit of an increase in this area. Trying to clean up. We're trying to get more people to cooperate and help."
Deputies are still putting the pieces together, trying to figure out what exactly happened.
Some are speaking with witnesses as others are searching for any evidence.
