SHOOTING. JIM: OSCEOLA COUNTY DEPUTIES ARE LOOKING FOR ANSWERS TONIGHT AFTER A BODY WAS FOUND IN A CAR THAT CRASHED NEAR THE KEY WEST MARKET IN KISSIMMEE. DEPUTIES BELIEVE THAT PERSON WAS A PASSENGER. THE DRIVER WAS IN THE WOODS ACROSS THE STREET, KNOCKED OUT COLD. WESH 2’S SENAIT GEBREGIORGIS EXPLAINS WHY THE SHERIFF BELIEVES DRUGS WERE INVOLVED. SENAIT: WHEN THE CALL CAME IN, DEPUTIES WERE HEADING TO WHAT THEY WERE TOLD WAS A CRASH BEHIND THE KEY WEST MARKET. WHEN THEY ARRIVED, THEY FOUND A PERSON DEAD IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, AND ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE CAR, THEY FOUND THE ALLEGED DRIVER UNCONSCIOUS. >> IT’S A SUSPICIOUS DEATH RIGHT NOW. SENAIT: JUST A LITTLE AFTER 4:00 P.M. ON THURSDAY, OSCEOLA COUNTY SHERIFF DEPUTIES RESPONDED TO A CAR THAT CRASHED INTO A DITCH NEAR THE KEY WEST MARKET OFF OLD DIXIE HIGHWAY IN KISSIMMEE. A MALE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS FOUND DEAD. >> WE FOUND A MALE DRIVER IN THE WOODS MAYBE ABOUT 25 YARDS AWAY. SENAIT: SHERIFF MARCOS LOPEZ SAYS THAT PERSON AND THE PASSENGER HAD NO VISIBLE INJURIES. HE SAYS THE ALLEGED DRIVER WAS UNCONSCIOUS, BUT HAD A PULSE. AFTER DEPUTIES ADMINISTERED NARCAN, THE ALLEGED DRIVER WAS SENT TO THE HOSPITAL. >> IT COULD BE DRUG-RELATED. THIS WHOLE AREA HERE IN THE CITY OF KISSIMMEE, IT’S ALWAYS BEEN SIGNIFICANT WITH THIS TYPE OF DRUG TYPE TRAFFICKING BEHAVIOR. IT’S GOTTEN BETTER OVER THE YEARS. RECENTLY WE’VE SEEN A LITTLE BIT OF AN INCREASE IN THIS AREA. TRYING TO CLEAN UP. WE’RE TRYING TO GET MORE PEOPLE TO COOPERATE AND HELP. SENAIT: SOME NEIGHBORS TOLD US THEY TOO HAVE NOTICED MORE DRUG-RELATED ACTIVITY IN THE AREA RECENTLY AND SAID THIS DEATH INVESTIGATION ONLY RAISES THE LEVEL OF CONCERN. According to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office, one person was killed and another hospitalized in a car crash near the Key West Market in Kissimmee on Thursday. Deputies were initially called to a crash behind the market off Old Dixie Highway around 4:15 p.m. That's when Sheriff Marcos Lopez said they found a man in the passenger seat of the car who was dead."It's a suspicious death right now," Lopez said. A K-9 unit then began investigating further, and that's when a second person was found unconscious but with a pulse in a wooded area across the street. Lopez said they believe that was the driver of the car that crashed. After deputies administered Narcan, the alleged driver was taken to the hospital."It could be drug-related," Lopez said. "This whole area here in the city of Kissimmee it's always been significant with this type of drug type trafficking behavior. It's gotten better over the years. Recently, we've seen a little bit of an increase in this area. Trying to clean up. We're trying to get more people to cooperate and help."Deputies are still putting the pieces together, trying to figure out what exactly happened. Some are speaking with witnesses as others are searching for any evidence.
