The City recently announced the award of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds in the amounts of $50,000 to the Chinese Culture Connection (CCC) and $25,000 to The Food Drive. Following an application and review process, the awards were recommended by the City’s ARPA Subcommittee on Non-Profit Support which includes City Councillor Craig Spadafora, Library Director Dora St. Martin, and longtime resident Linda Zalk. The requests for funding were enthusiastically supported and approved by Mayor Gary Christenson.
The City of Malden was one of ten cities nationwide recognized with a Project Award by the Center for Digital Government (CDG) at last week’s virtual GovX conference. Now in its sixth year, the conference highlights the achievements and best practices of states, cities and counties that are radically improving the experience of government services.
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has launched the MassDREAMS (Delivering Real Equity and Mortgage Stability) grant program, which may help Malden residents achieve their dream of homeownership. The purpose of the program is to expand the sources of funding for down payment assistance for first-time homebuyers. Federally funded by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA), MassDREAMS seeks to address housing security caused by the disproportionate economic impact of Covid-19.
In commemoration of Fire Prevention Week, the Malden Fire and Police Departments will hold their Fourth Annual Public Safety Day at Linden Park and School on Sunday, October 9th from 11 AM-2 PM. Fire Prevention Week is a time that all are encouraged to recognize the dangers that can occur in the places we feel the safest. This year’s theme is “Fire Won’t Wait – Plan your Escape.”
