The New York Rangers have addressed their hole at second line center by signing Vincent Trocheck to a seven-year contract. According to multiple reports, the cap hit will be for an AAV of $5.625 million.

Trocheck, 29, will once again play for his old coach in Florida as he joins the Rangers coach under Gerard Gallant.

New York Rangers sign Vincent Trocheck

Trocheck, 29, registered 21 goals and 51 points with the Carolina Hurricanes last season. He is a two-way player regarded as Brad Marchand lite.

GM Chris Drury absolutely loves players that are hard to play against and Trocheck fits that description. One major plus that can’t be overlooked is his ability to win draws. For his career, Trocheck is 52.1in between the dots.

In his 555 game career, he’s amassed 150 goals and 378 points. His best season came in 2017-18 where he notched 31 goals and 75 points in 82 contests.

New York Rangers trade Patrik Nemeth

After opting not to buyout Patrik Nemeth, the Rangers were able to trade him and his entire $2.5 million cap hit for two seasons to the Arizona Coyotes.

Nemeth, 30, finished with 2 goals and 7 points in 63 games. He had -9 rating but also posted solid numbers in the blocks (102) and hits department (115). Along with Nemeth, the Rangers added a second round pick in 2025, plus a conditional pick.

Per the Rangers press release the condition is as follows: Arizona has the option to acquire New York’s own 2024 third round pick or its own 2026 second round pick.

In exchange the Rangers acquire prospect defenseman Ty Emberson.
