The Portland Trail Blazers signed rookie forward Jabari Walker to a standard NBA contract, general manager Joe Cronin announced Wednesday.
Terms were not disclosed.
Walker, a second-round pick out of Colorado, has been a standout player for the Blazers during summer league play in Las Vegas.
Through three games, Walker is averaging 13 points and 8.3 rebounds in 19.6 minutes per game while shooting 15 of 22 from the field (68.2%). He had 16 points and 13 rebounds in Monday night’s 88-77 win over the New York Knicks.
Should the 6-foot-9 Walker continue to develop, he could provide much-needed frontcourt depth next season.
