During a campaign event on Saturday, Democratic candidate for Governor Peter Franchot weighed in on the fatal shooting of a man in Baltimore by a squeegee kid.
Franchot said that he has a zero-tolerance policy toward crime.
"We have to realize that everyone has to feel safe in their own community. No public safety, no economy," said Franchot, when asked about the shooting in Baltimore.
Franchot says that his administration, should he win, would bring 100,000 jobs to Baltimore. "But, you have to have zero tolerance for crime and any kind of injury against other people," said Franchot.
The candidate said that his campaign is doing very well and that his campaign continues to poll ahead of the field.
"We are going to work very hard as if we're 10 points behind," said Franchot.
