The Lakes Area Veterinary Hospital on Highway 190 West in Jasper is celebrating forty years in business.
The animal care facility was founded in 1982 by Dr. David Fain, and in July of 1989 he partnered with his old Texas A&M classmate, Dr. Royce Smathers, and together the pair owned and operated Fain & Smathers Veterinary Hospital.
Both Dr. Fain and Dr. Smathers retired in 2020.
The clinic is now staffed by Dr. Dusty Taff (DVM/Oklahoma State), Dr. Lori Fain Coleman (DVM/Texas A&M), and Dr. Holly Wolfe (DVM/Ross School of Veterinary Medicine), with Dr. Taff and Dr. Coleman holding ownership of the facility.
The clinic offers emergency care and surgery, along with routine animal health care.
