Because of heavy rain and high winds, World Games officials rescheduled Saturday night’s concert by Grammy-winning artist Lupe Fiasco, and canceled other activities scheduled for City Walk “due to an abundance of caution,” World Games CEO Nick Sellers confirmed to AL.com.

Fiasco will perform Sunday evening at 9 p.m. “I just spoke with him,” Sellers said. “He’s doing this for the World Games, says he wants to support.”

A severe storm warning was issued late in the afternoon for Jefferson and Shelby counties, with winds up to 60 miles per hour expected.

It was also announced that public transit lines servicing the games will be halted “if severe weather hits...until the weather is clear,” officials shared in a tweet.

Outdoor competitions are either delayed or rescheduled for 10 a.m. Sunday, city officials shared on social media.
