On July 9, Rey Vargas will look to become a two-division champion. Inside The Alamodome, Mark Magsayo defends his newly-won WBC featherweight title against Vargas.

Magsayo made his pro debut in 2013. A WBO International featherweight champion, Magsayo won the WBC-ABC featherweight title in 2019 against Panya Uthok. In January, he beat Gary Russell Jr. for the WBC featherweight title. The Magsayo win ended Russell's seven-fight win streak.

A seven-time National Champion, Vargas made his pro debut in 2010. A WBC Youth Silver super-bantamweight champion, Vargas won the WBC super-bantamweight title in 2017 against Gavin McDonnell. He defended the title five times. Vargas is now moving weight classes to fight for featherweight gold.
