Greg Papa

Greg Papa, the midday co-host on Cumulus Media sports “The Sports Leader” KNBR San Francisco (680, 104.5), will continue as the radio play-by-play broadcaster for the San Francisco 49ers through the 2028 season. The longtime Bay Area sports broadcaster finalized a contract extension with the NFL franchise that will span the next seven seasons. Papa joined the 49ers in 2019 after 21 seasons as the radio voice of the Oakland Raiders.

"Our team has experienced incredible games, plays and moments on the field in the past few seasons, a large portion of which have been accompanied by memorable calls by Greg Papa. His voice has become synonymous with our organization, and we are thrilled to welcome him back to our radio booth for years to come," 49ers President Al Guido said in the announcement.

Papa has been covering Bay Area sports for more than 30 years. He is a three-time California Sportscaster of the Year, and a 2018 inductee into the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame. When he joined the 49ers in 2019, Papa became the first Bay Area broadcaster to have a role with five of the region's major pro teams. He previously served as the voice of the Warriors (TV & radio – 1986-97), Giants (TV & radio – 2004-08), Oakland A's (TV – 1990-2003) and Oakland Raiders (radio – 1997-2017). A Syracuse University grad, Papa was a member of the Indiana Pacers radio and television broadcasting teams from 1984-1986.

Papa has been paired with John Lund as “Papa & Lund” from 10am-2pm on 49ers radio flagship KNBR since July 2019. It’s Papa’s second stretch with KNBR – he first worked for the station from 2001-2003. Between gigs he was with then-Entercom crosstown sports talker “95.7 The Game” KGMZ, where he hosted 12-3pm.
