EL PASO (25 News Now) - War-ravaged Ukraine has received a potentially life-saving shipment from Woodford County.

The El Paso Emergency Squad posted on its Facebook page that the former El Paso EMS ambulance was delivered and crossed the border into Ukraine.

The ambulance has more than 200,000 miles on its odometer, and it’s filled with donated donated medical supplies.

“A special ‘thank you’ to our local community who helped fill this ambulance with supplies for the Ukrainian people and the OSF HealthCare system for overseeing this donation,” the Facebook post said.

“Our thoughts continue to be with all those impacted by this tragic conflict.”

EMS crews in Ukraine will decide where and how to use the El Paso ambulance.

Before the vehicle made its voyage, El Paso Fire Protection District President Tim Ruestman said, “If it saves one life, it will have accomplished what we intended for it to do.”
