Police: 16-year-old from Colerain Township killed in crash with semi on River Road
A 16-year-old from Colerain Township was killed Wednesday afternoon after a car crashed into a semitractor-trailer on River Road, according to the Fairfield Township Police Department.
Around 4 p.m., officers responded in the 7400 block of River Road for a two-vehicle crash with an entrapment.
Investigators said a blue 2009 Toyota Corolla struck a semi head-on, throwing the Toyota off the side of the roadway.
Police said the driver of the Toyota was a 16-year-old boy from Colerain Township. Emergency personnel said he died at the scene.
The driver of the semi was uninjured, officials said.
Investigators said the Toyota was headed west around a curve between U.S. 27 and Georgetown Road.
The Toyota went left of center as it came around a curve and struck the semi head-on, according to investigators.
Officials are investigating distracted driving, not wearing a seat belt as possible contributing factors.
