Huge fundraising event for Cpl. Hilliard’s family set for next Saturday

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – More support continues to outpour from the community for the family of fallen Wicomico County Sheriff’s Corporal Glenn Hilliard. A huge fundraising event is set to take place next weekend to raise even more money for the family.

A brand-new 2022 Toyota Tacoma will be raffled off at the event which is set to take place next Saturday, July 16 at 6 p.m. at the Wicomico County Civic Center located at 500 Glen Avenue, Salisbury, Maryland 21804.

For many in the community, law enforcement is personal as generations of families across Delmarva have served in the line of duty, and that’s certainly the driving force behind Chris Hagel’s efforts to help organize what is shaping up to be the largest fundraising event thus far for the Hilliard family.

“Personally, my family is law enforcement. I was the only idiot that went into business,” Hagel said when asked why he decided to help with organizational duties for the fundraiser. “We’re gonna do 50/50’s, we’re gonna do door prizes,  and of course there are people who are just making straight donations that don’t want to win a truck, and if they did win it, they’d give it to the Hilliards.”

The pickup truck will be raffled off during the event, along with a silent auction. Ticket sales have continued to soar as more of the community, and the east coast for that matter, learn about the chance to give back to such a great cause and possibly win the truck, which organizers say you don’t have to be present to qualify.

“We’re actually getting a lot of ticket sales for the truck that are far out of state, the Carolinas, Florida, New York, New Jersey. No, you don’t have to be present,” Hagel stated. “There’s also gonna be a ton of silent auction stuff, everything from sports memorabilia, to trips, certificates to local businesses, and as I said, every penny goes to the Hilliard Memorial Fund.”
