The Lyric Repertory Company’s 2022 season has been temporarily shut down as a result of a COVID-19 outbreak among its cast and crews.

LOGAN – The Lyric Repertory Company has been shut down by a major outbreak of COVID-19.

Lyric artistic director Richie Call confirmed that the repertory company has cancelled all performances through Saturday, July 9.

“We’ve just run out of understudies to perform,” Call said, adding that both cast and crews have been stricken.

“Fortunately,” he said, “these are mild cases so far. We’re hoping that shutting down for five days and then putting everybody into face masks for five days will allow us to continue our season.”

When performances resume on July 13, Call said that the Lyric’s performers will be allowed to remove their masks while on stage.

The cancelled shows this week are Freaky Friday on Wednesday, July 6 at 7:30 p.m.; Fences on Thursday, July 7 at 7:30 p.m.; the debut of Into the Breeches on Friday, July 8 at 1 and 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, July 9 at 1 p.m.; and A Fox on the Fairway on Saturday, July 9 at 7:30 p.m.

Understudies Kat Lee and William Appiah took the stage in Fences on Friday, July 1 and did a commendable job under difficult circumstances.

“We invite you to exchange your tickets for a different show during this season,” Call explained. “Refunds are also available, even for those with flex passes.”

Ticket holders can contact the Caine College of the Arts Box Office to arrange for an exchange, refund or ask questions at (435) 797-8022.

The CCA Box Office is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Cache Fine Arts Center on the campus of Utah State University.

Ticket holders can also visit www.lyricrep.org for information concerning alternative performances.

“We look forward to seeing you at more of our shows,” Call said, “and we apologize for any inconvenience this causes.”
