Families in the Bulloch County School area must now apply to receive free and reduced lunches.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the USDA created a free meals program that provided school lunches for families at no charge.
Now that program has ended and families must now apply to receive benefits.
"We apply and receive a grant each year to cover that. So that will continue. All students will receive free breakfast regardless of economic eligibility. But for the lunch meals that’s where we need parents to go back if their family is eligible to be sure to complete that application and we’d like to have that done before the first day of school which for us is August first,” said Hayley Greene, Bulloch County Schools Public Relations Director.
Any eligible family without a completed, approved application after September 13, will be required to pay full price for lunches.
Information on where to receive an application can be found below.
On July 7, a letter and application will be mailed and emailed to families at the address the school district has on file.
Starting July 12:
- The application will be available on the Bulloch County Schools website to print and complete
- The application will be available on the Bulloch County Schools website to complete online via the My School Apps website.
- The application will be embedded in the school district's online Register for School tool when parents register new students
- The application will be embedded in the school district's Campus Parent website and mobile application (app) for returning students when families use this tool to update their child’s information.
On July 28, the application will be available from your school at the Open House.
